How to use this calculator

Enter the total linear feet of cabinets and choose a tier. To measure, add up the length, in feet, of every wall run that will have cabinets, counting both base cabinets and upper cabinets. Include tall pantry cabinets and any island cabinetry. A typical 10 by 10 foot kitchen has about 20 to 25 linear feet of cabinets.

How this is calculated

Cabinet pricing is conventionally quoted per linear foot rather than per box, since box widths vary. The calculator multiplies your total linear footage by a rate range for the selected tier, including standard installation.

Example

With 20 linear feet of cabinets, stock cabinets come to $2,000–$6,000, semi-custom to $4,000–$13,000, and full custom to $10,000–$24,000. The tier you choose changes the total far more than small adjustments to the layout.

Typical cost ranges

Stock cabinets (pre-built, limited sizes/finishes) run about $100–300 per linear foot installed. Semi-custom cabinets, which allow more size and finish options, run $200–650. Fully custom cabinetry, built to exact specifications, typically starts around $500 per linear foot and can run well past $1,000 for premium materials and finishes. Moving up a tier roughly doubles the installed price.

What can change the price

Soft-close hardware, specialty finishes (paint-grade vs. stain-grade), pull-out organizers, and taller upper cabinets all add cost within a tier. One way to control the total is to mix tiers: use stock cabinets for most of the kitchen and spend more on a custom island or a single feature run.
